ODESSA R-VII SCHOOL DISTRICT
TRAUMA-INFORMED SCHOOLS INITIATIVE
As a result of the Missouri law, the Odessa R-VII School District is committed in providing a Trauma-Informed Schools Initiative for the welfare of all students within our district. In June 2017, the district formed a team of professionals comprised of Outreach Providers and Administration to attend the Trauma Sensitive Schools Team Summit in Kansas City, Missouri, for an extensive four-day training session. This training was in collaboration and funded by a grant received by Brighter Futures (an organization assisting all Lafayette County School Districts).
Trauma Sensitive Schools acknowledge the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences and understands the systemic impact of chronic stress. The Odessa R-VII School District will continue the journey to implement trauma informed learning practices in order to build a compassionate culture that creates safety and accelerates learning.
